Christmas Eve 2012

Oh how I love this time of year.  Christmas Eve we went to church together, Eric lead part of the service and as soon as he walked out to begin Luke yelled, "Der my Daddy!!"  This year they also read the Christmas story from the Jesus Story Book Bible, Luke's favorite book.  As the pastor was reading it, Luke kept yelling intermittently through-out "JESUS!!!!"  He kept giving away the ending!  While I was sweating profusely from afar watching my loud and not so still 2 year old standing at the front of the church leaning over kids to see the story book, I hoped I would look back some day and think it was cute... right?

We went back home to finish our celebration.  Nana and Papa were also there.  Luke got to open his stocking, a new tradition we started this year.

Oh... this is so exciting!

He got a Hex Bug... they are crazy looking and move in a creepy realistic way.  He LOVED it.

He also got a tootsie roll bank, but had no idea at all that they were candy.  We didn't tell him :) We just let him put them in and dump them out... put them in and dump them out....

I love that we get to start new traditions as a family.  I love that sweet baby Weston was sleeping away so peacefully.  I love that my parents live so close that they can experience fun evenings like this with us.  Thank you Lord, for so many blessings in our life.  We are so grateful you came hear to earth as a baby to save us all.  Oh, what a Savior!

Merry Christmas!

Michigan Christmas 2012

Another fun Christmas in Michigan with the Hoffman Fam.  Per our tradition, Eric and I took the kids out for a "Day-O-Fun" with Uncle E and Aunt Melissa.  Pizza, "Christmas boxes", and
"Captain Underwear, the Trilogy"---

All the Grandkids on one couch....  How many more can it hold??
Eric and the kids raided Grandma Hoffman's closet....

So glad we could spend Christmas in Michigan with the Hoffman Family!  Can't wait to see you again soon!

TRIRE TRUCKS

Over Christmas, Uncle Josh took Luke to the Spring Arbor Fire Station.  Luke was beyond THRILLED. It is so much fun to watch Luke discover new things.  He was so happy to be there and we were so grateful to Uncle Josh, first of all for being so cool and also for taking time to do something special for Luke!  Thanks Uncle Josh!!! We loved the "Trire" Trucks!

Dear Weston, 4 months

Dear Weston,

You are one big boy.  I took you to your 4 month check-up and found out you weigh 17lbs 3oz and are 26 inches long. You are in the 90th percentile in weight and height.  You are fitting into 6 month clothing and I think in the next week or so I will have to get out the 9 month sleepers.  I'm soaking up every moment with you sweet boy, because I know all too well, these days go by too quickly.  In your case, VERY quickly, seeing as you are about to graduate your 6 month clothing and are still 2 months away from being 6 months!
You are one content little guy.  You love sitting in your bouncy seat watching your brother play.  He is so entertaining to you and your Dad and I :).  You are doing great grabbing and batting at your toys.   You found your hands and have them in your mouth constantly.  You like to chew on your thumb and suck on it with all your fingers pointing to the sky.  You are still drooling tons causing several outfit changes a day.
You talk, giggle, squeal, laugh, gurgle, and razz a lot!  You light up when someone talks to you or smiles at you. Your feet and belly are very ticklish and we all love to tickle you!  You have the loudest scream-cry I've ever heard.  I'm glad it comes out very little, because seriously, it is LOUD.
You're not the biggest fan of Tummy Time.  You last about 5 minutes trying to keep your head up and then give up.  This picture shows how you often spend Tummy Time.  I can't imagine trying to keep your noggin up, Weston.  What I mean is... well you are obviously so smart.  So it's ok if you want to take a break or get frustrated and belt out your LOUD scream-cry.  We'll get there, I promise :).
You LOVE baths.... when you get them.  I'm still struggling to get you the amount of baths you should have... so sorry.  But boy, whe you get one, you sure do love them.  You kick your feet and squeal with joy!  In fact, we got our first long laugh from you when you were taking a bath.  I wish we were fast enough to get it on video, but I know that one was just the beginning.  Your brother often likes to "assist" with your bath time.  Luke is either going to teach you to love the water or hate it with the amount of water he splashes in your face. A couple weeks ago Luke decided to wake you up from your nap by pouring a cup of water over your face.  Yeah, I know....  Don't worry, he was PUNISHED.
We have finally moved you up to your own room.  Our bedroom is downstairs so we have kept you in our room for convenience.  Also, (cough) because we just moved your brother out of the crib into his big boy bed.  (He did great by the way).  You are sleeping pretty well in your crib, but I think you will have a slight adjustment learning how to get yourself back to sleep on your own.  Since being in our room, if you wake up, we get up and put the paci back in your mouth because you are like 6 feet away (and we want our sleep!).  But now you will be all the way up-stairs and we won't be running up there to put your paci in your mouth anymore.
Have I mentioned I love your smile?  Your eyes squint up and your mouth gets as wide as it can go and then your kissable cheeks puff up even bigger!  It. Is. Awesome.  There is just something about you, precious boy.  You have such a sweet spirit about you.   I love how you hold my fingers so tightly, how you perch your head on my shoulder when I carry you around, and how you nuzzle your head back and forth when you're tired.  I treasure all these little things about you.

We love you so so much, Weston.  Our family is all the more sweeter now that you're here with us.  I can't imagine life without you precious one.

Love,
Mom

Dear Weston, 3 months

Dear Weston,

Can I just say, you are SO SWEET.  I think I say that to you about 100x's a day.  I say it so much, because it is so true!  You have the best smiles and coos, Weston!  You could talk the day away and still find more to jabber about with me.  I love all the sweet noises you make.  You are even starting to giggle a little bit.  I can't wait to hear your real belly laugh.  Your brother Luke has one of the most joyful laughs I've ever heard so once the two of you start laughing together, I'm not sure I'll be able to take it!! :)

You are growing so fast!  The day you turned 3 months is the day none of your 3 month sleepers fit you anymore.  I haven't weighed you, but I'm pretty sure you are 16+ pounds!  You are beginning to hold your rather large noggin up a little better these days and are enjoying tummy time just a little more.
Most of the time, you prefer we hold you facing out.  After all, you have to see what your brother is up to!  You definitely love to be in the mix and want to be where we are.   You are content in your bouncy seat and under your play-mat as long as we are close by.  You are getting really good at batting at your toys and finding your fist to stare at.  You blow bubbles all the time and are drooling a lot!  You've developed a fascination with you tongue these last few days, sticking it out really far and then rolling it up into a tiny ball.  SO CUTE.

I have such a great time watching you and your bother interact.  He loves you so much!   He loves giving you tender kisses on top of your head, sharing story time with you in your swing, and trying to get you to smile.  You always oblige your brothers efforts and give him a huge grin.  You guys are going to be great together.

You participated in your first Halloween and it was a success!  You were the cutest little "Super Hero in Training" there ever was!  Well, you and your cute older brother.
We drove with Nana and Papa to Ohio last week to visit Great Grandma Kayser.  She got very sick and had to go to the hospital.  Even though she wasn't feeling well, you still brought a smile to her face when she met you.  I am so glad you got to go with us to see her, what a precious memory that was for me.  I have to write this down, because it's almost too good to believe, but you did not cry at all on the way up to Ohio or the way back home.  It was more than than 17 hours of driving in total.  You were the perfect passenger!!

Your open-mouth-wide-eyed-grins literally light me up from the inside.  I have so much joy over you sweet Weston.  I thank God for you every day!  We are so blessed by your sweet spirit and beautiful smile.
Love you to the moon and back!
Mama
